What is MSC?

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) works to promote sustainable fishing practices and support fishing communities for future generations.

MSC operates a global certification and ecolabel programme for fisheries.

Certified Fisheries

FISF works to increase the share of Faroese fisheries with MSC certification.

Currently, several fisheries are certified and audited every year.

How Certification Works

  • Each fishery receives its own MSC certification
  • Certification is valid for five years
  • Fisheries are audited every year
  • Reassessment is required after five years

Become a Participant

FISF invites Faroese fishing vessels, landing sites, processors, and trading companies to become participants in MSC-certified fisheries.
